Establishment of Subsidiary in the Republic of Kazakhstan

Komatsu (President & CEO: Hiroyuki Ogawa) has decided to establish a 100% subsidiary Komatsu Central Asia LLP (hereinafter referred to as the "new company") in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the aim of strengthening sales and service activities for construction and mining equipment in the Central Asia region. The new company is scheduled to start operations in August 2023. In addition, the impact of the establishment of the new company on Komatsu's consolidated financial results will be minor.

In the region of Central Asia, which is rich in natural resources, the demand for construction and mining equipment is expected to increase globally and for infrastructure development due to the increasing urbanization. Komatsu has been engaged in sales and service activities of construction and mining equipment through its distributors in the region. On the other hand, due to the supply chain, financial and economic turmoil caused by the situation in Ukraine, it is difficult to grasp the needs and issues of customers in the region. Therefore, the new company will address this issue by having sales and service functions in the Central Asian region and having jurisdiction over local (*1) distributors.

By building a new structure that meets the needs of customers in the Central Asia region, we aim to create new value and further expand sales and profits in the region.
